How Does QDRO Work?
A QDRO, Qualified Domestic Relation Order, is pre-tax division of a 401K, IRA or Pension account.
The distribution is based on the alternate payees community property rights in a participants account. The amount is calculated based on a court ordered formula or the distribution may be based on other factors determined by the court at the time of divorce.
A QDRO cannot be initiated until a Judgment for Dissolution is entered by the court.

We are not attorney’s and do not represent you in court. If a hearing becomes necessary because one party refuses to sign the QDRO, there will be a separate charge to prepare and file the motion. You will need to attend the hearing on your own and represent yourself.
